Extending beyond ComplexCity to further explore his relationship to New York City, Endless Victory makes reference to yet another painting by Piet Mondrian, Victory Boogie Woogie, 1942-44. In his paintings, Mondrian called for the “destruction of natural appearance; and construction through continuous opposition of pure means – dynamic rhythm.” In Endless Victory, Simon takes the pulsating energy suggested by Mondrian’s painting and activates it, creating a seemingly endless tour-de-force.
